Aeroflot to fly more Russian mail
Aeroflot and Russian Post have expanded their cooperation to increase mail volumes transported by air. A memorandum to seal the deal was signed during the Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok earlier this month.
The companies aim to boost economic efficiency of transport services by expanding international postal exchange offices at Moscow SVO and other Russian airports. They therefore plan to enhance and modernise the facilities, introduce new technologies to speed up international mail handling and launch joint transit operations.
Russian Post CEO Maksim Akimov: "Over almost 20 years of joint work Aeroflot has proved to be a trustworthy partner. Every day, we use over 380 Aeroflot flights, and in 2020 alone, we transported over 17,000 t of mail on the airline’s flights." (ah)
