AD Ports to add logistics area in Alexandria

AD Ports and the Egyptian ministry of industry and transport are embarking on the joint development of a 1.1 sqkm logistics park at Alexandria Port. As part of the venture, AD Ports will work together with an affiliate of the Egyptian ministry and explore developing, managing and operating 1.1 sqkm of integrated logistics area.

The location at Alexandria Port will make this one of the largest logistics hubs in the Mediterranean Sea region, whilst also enabling access to major shipping routes. The port is estimated to account for around 60% of Egypt’s foreign trade.

The signing of the mou was attended by minister Kamel Al Wazir, as well as the UAE’s ambassador to Egypt, Mariam Al Kaabi, and AD Ports Group CEO, Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi. This project is one of AD Ports’ several expansions in Egypt of late, and is set to strengthen the country’s economic synergies with the UAE. (mk)
