AD Ports driving African expansion
The AD Ports Group has appointed Mar Construction and Dar Al Handasah to modernise the Noatum Ports Luanda Terminal in Angola.
Under a USD 250 million plan running until 2027 the terminal will be upgraded to handle super post-panamax vessels of up to 14,000 teu. Capacity will grow from 25,000 to 350,000 teu, while ro-ro handling will surpass 40,000 vehicles. The 192,000 sqm terminal will feature new container equipment and digital systems.
Luanda handles around 76% of Angola’s container and general cargo, so the upgrade will greatly strengthen regional trade routes to DR Congo and Zambia. The project forms part a broader USD 800 million African expansion strategy for the AD Ports Group. (ah)
