Active Ants extending its outreach
In September 2022, Active Ants, an affiliate of the Belgian Bpost group, is launching its fifth fulfilment centre in UK. The site is located in Northampton, England and is owned by M&G Real Estate. After opening two sites in the Netherlands, Active Ants has also recently expanded into Belgium and Germany.
Co-founder and managing partner Jeroen Dekker explained the group's policy stating that “storage, order picking, packaging, and sorting are also fully automated in this new fulfilment centre. Employees use robots for order picking.” The basis of these warehouses is the Autostore, a system where goods are stored compactly in bins. The robots ride on a framework of rails installed on top of the Autostore. (sh)
