Acquisitions expand short-line rail network
US short line railroad owner 3i-backed Regional Rail has agreed to acquire Indiana Eastern Railroad and Ohio South Central Railroad. The two lines operate a combined 172 km of mainline freight railroad in the US-states Indiana and Ohio.
The acquisition further expands Regional Rail’s existing Midwest presence, the company said. Since partnering in July 2019, 3i and Regional Rail will have more than quadrupled the number of railroads under Regional Rail’s control, growing to 15 freight railroad operations in North America.
The company provides freight transportation, car storage, and transloading services in the USA and western Canada. (ben)
