Achievement and postponement
Alitalia has received the Iata CEIV Pharma certification. The three-year certification was also issued to the airline’s ground handling in Rome FCO (Italy), which oversees the loading and unloading of medicines from aircraft, carried out for both Alitalia and other airlines at Italy's second biggest cargo airport.
Chief business officer Fabio Maria Lazzerini: "Italy is the leading manufacturer of drugs in Europe and this certification will allow us to improve our competitive position in the highly specialised sector of transporting pharma products in aircraft bellies."
On the other hand, state administrators last week pushed back the deadline for the sale of the flag carrier, days after infrastructure group Atlantia said it would backtrack on its commitment to be part of a consortium set to rescue the troubled airline. (ah)
