Acciaierie d'Italia opts for huge portal cranes
Taranto-headquartered steel manufacturer Acciaierie d'Italia requires the strongest possible equipment to handle its bulky and heavy materials. The group recently inked a contract with Liebherr about four new LPS 800 portal cranes for handling raw materials used in steel production.
The LPS 800, the strongest and largest portal crane in the Liebherr portfolio, operates 100% on electric power with emission-free bulk handling, but is also furnished with Liebherr's hybrid system Pactronic, which gives the crane additional power when needed.
The cranes ordered can move along the quay edge on the already installed rail track and the space under the portal can be used at the same time. Acciaierie d'Italia's four LPS 800 have a four rope configuration with a maximum lifting capacity of up to 144 t. (sh)
