Access to more intermodal terminals
The USA-based railroads Norfolk Southern (NS) and Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) are augmenting their intermodal services in Florida, starting on 2 October 2023. The launch will also broaden the existing portfolio to include FEC's Ft. Pierce and Ft. Lauderdale intermodal terminals.
The upgrade complements current services to FEC terminals in Titusville and Miami and expands direct access to and from markets in Chicago, Cincinnati, Harrisburg, Kansas City, Memphis, St. Louis, Lathrop, and Southern California.
To enable this enhanced service, Norfolk Southern and FEC will use a steel wheel interchange to FEC at Jacksonville, so that shippers will be able to land their goods closer to facilities in Florida’s markets. (ben)
