Aapa strengthens government relations
The American Association of Port Authorities (Aapa) has announced the promotion of Aapa government relations staffer, Derek Miller (photo), who already joined in September 2020, to the position of government relations manager, and the appointment of Ian Gansler as the new government relations associate.
In addition to the continuation of his work as staff liaison for the Aapa security committee, Miller’s role is to “spearhead advocacy efforts on issues involving security, eliminating human trafficking, US customs and border protection, workforce development, and offshore wind.”
Gansler joins from the DC lobbying firm O’Neill and Associates. During that time, he worked for Aapa member Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) on maritime federal policy issues. Gansler has also worked for End Citizens United.
Christopher J. Connor, Aapa’s president and CEO: “I am proud of the accomplishments that the Aapa government relations team has made over the past several years and am delighted to continue the forward momentum with the announcement of these staffing changes. The energy, aptitude, and credibility that both Miller and Gansler respectively bring is an asset to our organisation”. (amh)
