AAL sets eco-surcharge
AAL Shipping has introduced an 'EU ETS Surcharge' to offset costs from the EU's new carbon emissions trading rules starting in January 2024. The additional fee will apply to all cargoes on AAL-operated vessels to or from European ports and be separate from standard freight rates.
The surcharge, reflecting the EU emissions trading price, vessel consumption, and cargo volume, will be regularly updated.
AAL's proactive approach aims to help customers adjust to the regulations affecting global maritime operations. This initiative complements the company's commitment to sustainability and transparency, as demonstrated in its recently published new Sustainability Report. (pb)
