A warehouse for a dozen countries
The shipper paves the way: Diageo, a major alcoholic beverage player worldwide and owner of brands such as Johnnie Walker, Captain Morgan, Baileys, Guinness, and FM Logistic have opened a new tax warehouse in Dudestii Noi, Timisoara County, in Romania. Around 12.6 million litres (and over 20 million bottles) will pass through the facility each year.
It will serve twelve markets: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Moldova, Czechia, Romania and Slovakia, making it one of Diageo's main warehouses within the European Union.
“With the new facility, Diageo will cut the delivery time for the twelve countries from 28 to two days, a reduction of 93%,” said Michael Holm, managing director of Diageo Eastern Europe. FM Logistic operates the 50,000 sqm multi-customer logistics centre, which will be expanded. The warehouse's annual volume is expected to exceed 30,000 pallets. (sh)
