A vibrant industry in Miami, Singapore, Brussels!
The time when fairs and conferences worldwide either had to be cancelled, or shifted (sometimes to virtual spaces), went on for far too long for many people in aviation.
Now several recent events with participants attending and networking in person have once again testified to the vibrancy of the air cargo industry.
The World Trade Center Miami and Miami airport once again organised the Air Cargo Americas meeting (ACA), the 17th edition, on its traditional autumn date. (They put on a special edition last year, see page 7 of ITJ 13-14 / 2022.)
More than 80 exhibitors and 2,500 visitors came to Florida, which was less than in previous years, it’s true.
The ITJ nevertheless returned with plenty of valuable news in its luggage. In the run-up to the event the organisers, together with Messe München, even announced that they’re planning to hold a logistics summit focused on Latin America for the first time. It’s scheduled for Panama in October 2024.
The German trade fair organiser was pleased with the turnout at its Air Cargo Southeast Asia meeting, which it staged for the first time in Singapore at the same time as the ACA. The next edition is scheduled for 29 – 31 October 2025. The question of how many such events the industry can manage remains.
Finally, the world airfreight association Tiaca said its ‘Executive Summit’, which brought 300 delegates to Brussels early in November, was “a great success”, setting the course for the future (see also page 5). In a year Tiaca will bring the industry together again at its Air Cargo Forum in Miami Beach (November 12 – 15 2024).
