A transatlantic coalition is forged
Two big industrial ports have a common cause. The US-Port of Corpus Christi, Texas, and the European Port of Rotterdam, Netherlands, have signed a memorandum of understanding for further collaboration.
The ports outlined a number of shared objectives, which include co-developing trade and commercial opportunities, fostering an exchange of information and advancing the development and deployment of innovative technologies specifically related to navigational safety and environmental protection.
Since 2015, the Port of Corpus Christi has become the USA's largest crude oil export gateway. In 2020, annual tonnage amounted to 159.7 million t (2019: 144.9 million t). The Port of Rotterdam moved 436.8 million t of cargo over the last year. (cd)
