A train full of water for China
Russian Railways Logistics (RZDL) recently transported a large load of Russian bottled water per train from Irkutsk on Lake Baikal (Russia) to Tianjin (China). The train was loaded with 41 40-ft containers of bottled water. It passed the Russian – Mongolian border at Naushki - Erlian.
For the water transport, RZDL Logistics provided other services as well, such as trucking the cargo from the customer's logistics complex to the railway station of departure, supplying the containers, assembling and dispatching a container train to the destination station and transporting the cargo within China.
RZDL's specialists also took over customs handling. Following the successful completion of this assignment, the carrier is now examining the possibility of using the tested rail route for regular deliveries of bottled water to China from now on. (ben)
