A towage operator for MSC
Following the example of Maersk, which acquired Svitzer back in 1979, MSC is taking over 100% of the shares of Rimorchiatori Mediterranei.
The international towage operator under the Italian flag is active in Italy, Malta, Singapore, Malaysia, Norway, Greece and Colombia. The price of the transaction was not disclosed. MSC is buying the towage operator from Rimorchiatori Riuniti and a fund managed by DWS.
Rimorchiatori Riuniti president Gregorio Gavarone: "Thanks to its global network in shipping and port operations, we think MSC is going to be the ideal investor to accompany Rimorchiatori Mediterranei on the way to its next growth chapter." (sh)
