A tough year for IDS Logistik
2023 was a difficult year for the German general cargo network operator, with consignment volumes falling by 5.6% and the B2C business also declining.
With the economic clijmate remaining weak in 2023, turnover was disproportionately low at all 54 IDS locations, recording a total drop of 1.4%. The housing and mechanical engineering sectors were particularly affected.
Nevertheless, the network made some progress in terms of sustainability and digitalisation, announcing its CO2 reduction targets for 2050 in early 2023. To achieve these goals, IDS is planning to introduce an automated footprint determination in 2024. It is also optimising its real-time tracking and driver software.
"We assume that the demand-related uncertainty in the general cargo market will continue this year. Overall, we expect zero growth for 2024," says Michael Bargl, IDS CEO. (mk)
