A throughput to celebrate
Contecon Guayaquil (CGSA), an International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) subsidiary in Ecuador, is celebrating a throughput of 135 million t of cargo during its 16 years of operation at the Port of Guayaquil. This milestone highlights CGSA's commitment to efficiency, innovation, safety, and sustainability.
With over USD 360 million invested, CGSA has become a major driver in Ecuador's economic development and job creation.
CGSA can handle three neo-Panamax vessels simultaneously due to its 1,300 m quay and recent pier depth enhancements. It has also improved security with scanner installations, adopted private LTE network technology for digital transformation, and launched the port-to-door platform for real-time cargo tracking. CGSA aims to handle over 900,000 teu in 2023, an increase of over 5% from 2022. (pb)
