A sustainable West Midlands hub
Glencar has finished building a 71,628 sqm warehouse in Nuneaton, West Midlands (England) for Baytree Logistics Developments and its partner, Rhenus. Baytree Nuneaton comprises two warehouses with a structure consisting entirely of CLT and glulam, reducing the carbon footprint. The hub is one of the UK’s first large-scale timber structures in the logistics sector.
Solar panels have been installed to enable on-site renewable energy generation. Rhenus Warehousing Solutions UK hopes to cut its and its customers’ emissions with the help of this site, which has gained a “Breeam Outstanding” certificate.
Once operational, the warehouses can be used for companies in the retail industry, such as the fashion, toy, and beauty sectors. Baytree and Rhenus are happy to set new precedents in reaching net zero goals. (mk)
