A stronger presence in China

Railfreight traffic on the New Silk Road continues to grow: more than 12,000 corridor travelled through the Eurasian corridor in 2020, carrying more than 200,000 containers. By 2025, this number is expected to rise to 500,000.

German railfreight company DB Cargo is now strengthening its presence in China with a new country organisation. Based in Shanghai, DB Cargo Transasia is to provide new products to further boost railfreight services to and from China.

It is the only provider to link up traffic on the New Silk Road with its European network and thus offer direct train connections in 18 European countries, DB Cargo says.

DB Cargo Eurasia currently handles transports on more than ten routes. The new country organisation in China is headed by CEO Andreas Lübs. (ben)
