A strong end in Ostend
Ostend-based Europa Road Belgium has successfully extended its road freight services. The operator has invested in the business recently, expanding and rebranding – from ‘Continental Cargo Carriers’ to ‘Europa Road’ – its services in September.
The company has now transitioned from an established unaccompanied cargo carrier of full and part loads to a player that specialises in optimising the transport of full, part and groupage loads to and from the UK. The market response has been positive so far, with customers interested in both its DAP and DDP products, with the latter providing pre-Brexit delivery times.
According to a recent report from the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI), EU exports to the UK would have been 20% higher if the UK hadn’t left the EU. Belgian exports would have been 26% higher without Brexit.
Europa Road, which makes 20,000 North Sea crossings a year, is already an established player in the unaccompanied trailer market. It has access to 400 trailers and is the third-largest trailer operator from Zeebrugge. (sh)
