A strong 2021 for general cargo network
The German general cargo network IDS Logistik, which handled 17.2% of its 16.6 million shipments internationally last year, boosted both its turnover and its shipment volumes in 2021.
Turnover grew by 8.2% year-on-year to EUR 2.63 billion. The network transported 16.6 million consignments in 2021, 8.7% more than in 2020. In the export trade, IDS Logistik increased its cargo volumes by 17.2%.
Expansion projects are planned at seven IDS depots for 2022, as well as a further network location. Diesel prices have been skyrocketing since the beginning of the year, representing a particularly tough challenge to business. While the price of diesel for large consumers averaged EUR 1.09 per litre last year, German filling stations have been charging around twice that amount since mid-March 2022. (sh)
