A step-by-step PCS setup guide

The World Bank and the International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH) have launched a guide titled "Port Community Systems: Lessons from Global Experience", which provides a comprehensive roadmap for implementing a port community system (PCS).

A PCS is a digital platform that integrates a port’s stakeholders - customs, port management, shipping, logistics, and freight forwarders - into a unified system, reducing paperwork and delays. It can significantly enhance port efficiency, but many low- and middle-income countries face challenges in adopting these systems due to technical and financial barriers.

The report offers step-by-step guidance, including case studies that illustrate how a PCS can improve port operations. This initiative aims to help these countries remain competitive in global trade by facilitating digital transformation. The guide is available for download, offering practical insights for ports aiming to boost efficiency and streamline their operations. (pb)
