A short line to link Tulsa port with UP
The launch of the new short line Verdigris Southern Railroad marked the end of a multi-year project. The 7 km long stretch expands and improves the shipping capabilities for the industrial park of the Tulsa riverport in Inola, Oklahoma (USA). The new track is linked to the US class 1 railway UP and provides new transport options for the industrial park’s tenants.
The first delivery into the port included seven rail cars of raw materials delivered to Sofidel, an Italian-based paper manufacturer. The Tulsa port of Inola opened in 2019, and Verdigris Southern Railroad was created in 2021 to serve it. The line is owned by the transport company Watco. (ben)
