A service provider contract for naval forces
The German EMS-Fehn-Group company EMS Shipping & Trading has won the contract to be the global husbandry service provider for US Naval Forces Europe/Africa, in this case the US 6th Fleet.
The total services contract of the Naval Supply Systems Command (Navsup) Fleet Logistics Centre (FLC) based in Sigonella, Italy, is valued at USD 2.1 billion to support maritime forces of the US and Nato.
Generally, commercial husbanding service providers (HSPs) deliver logistics requirements such as force protection, water, tugs, waste removal, as well as provide electricity, phone lines and transportation to a visiting ship and its crew.
The performance period for the German provider started on 1 October 2020. After a five year base period follows a five year option period. The total value of the multiple awardee contract is USD 282 million USD.
"We are proud and honoured to be given the opportunity to service the US Navy’s 6th Fleet activities in the upcoming years," says Manfred Müller, CEO of EMS-Fehn-Group. (cd)
