A second mandate at Icao
Since Juan Carlos Salazar's appointment as secretary general on 1 August 2021, the Icao secretariat has been transforming its activities and operations, ushering in a new era for this specialised agency of the United Nations.
Salazar is an expert in aviation law and policy, with almost 30 years of experience in international negotiations in the air transport industry, management, and regulatory affairs. Prior to Icao, he served as the director general of civil aviation of Colombia at Aerocivil, an organisation with more than 3,100 employees.
Salazar holds master’s degrees in public administration and air and space law, and speaks fluent Spanish, English, French and Arabic. (cj)
