A refresh for pharma logistics services
Geis Group is currently restructuring its pharmaceutical logistics portfolio. In Nuremberg, Geis Eurocargo has built up a new fleet of refrigerated vehicles, implemented an IT solution and modernised the pharmaceutical handling area in recent months.
"We serve hospitals and pharmacies as well as private customers within a radius of about 250 km around Nuremberg," says Patrick Ortner, freight forwarding manager service logistics at Geis Eurocargo Nuremberg.
Among other things, a temperature window of 5 to 35° Celsius must be maintained along the entire supply chain. The handling, transport, and intermediate storage of the pharmaceutical products was certified according to the guidelines of the European Commission for this purpose.
Geis has also implemented IT to document the temperature data and added nine vehicles to the healthcare fleet. (mk)
