A pioneer, despite the challenges
The conversion of truck fleets to e-trucks is one of the most difficult tasks in logistics worldwide, requiring a certain pioneering spirit, as e-trucks cost up to three times more than conventional diesel units. Their range is also significantly shorter, and suitable charging infrastructure is still lacking.
Despite all these challenges Grundfos, a Danish specialist for pump solutions and water technology, is now nevertheless using Maersk’s electric truck fleet to transport containers between a factory and the port of Aarhus (Denmark).
Test transports have been running since October 2024 and are to be ramped up to 800 containers a year in future. The partners Maersk and Grundfos aim to reach net-zero emission by 2040. (ben)
