A PCM first for the pharma logistics industry
During last week's Air Cargo India, Germany-based Vaqtec launched "Thermal Coat", a packaging solution for the pharma industry equipped with innovative "Va-q-gel" technology, which allows to coat temperature-sensitive goods directly while saving space.
Consisting of gelled phase change material (PCM), which is particularly leak-proof, it can be individually pre-conditioned for the ranges 2-8 °C or 15-25 °C and then needs no further external energy supply.
In airfreight applications, the new solution improves the performance of conventional thermal covers by providing a qualified buffer time of seven hours for extreme ambient temperatures and direct sunlight on the tarmac. Furthermore, the gelled form of the PCM does not require any addition of liquid substances. (ah)
