A new year for logistics

Earlier last week, the director general of the British International Freight Association (Bifa), Steve Parker, shared some thoughts about 2025 in terms of global trade and logistics.

The IMF expects global trade volumes to increase by 3.2% this year, with forwarders and logisticians able to boost services and cross-border shipping solutions.

The use of AI is set to drive efficiency for tracking, customs clearance and warehouse management. The need for efficient logistics and last-mile delivery is also enhanced by the growing e-commerce market.
Another major focus this year will be on sustainability, with shippers as well as ports aiming for cleaner energy practices and looking to cut carbon emissions.

Parker concluded by saying that Bifa is ready to support its members through these ventures in the coming year. (mk)
