A new stakeholder for the Spinelli Group
The Genoa-headquartered Italian Spinelli Group is selling part of its shares to Hamburg carrier Hapag-Lloyd. The German container liner-shipping company will acquire a 49% stake in the Spinelli Group from existing shareholders, while the Spinelli family will continue to hold the majority stake of 51%. The price was not disclosed.
The Spinelli Group offers logistics services in Italy via a network of port terminals and intermodal centres in Genoa, Padua, Livorno, Milan (Arluno), La Spezia (Santo Stefano Magra) and Reggio Emilia (Dinazzano) and deploys over 600 own vehicles. The group carries out approximately 200,000 single transfers per year, covering 42 million km in trucks or trains transporting goods and containers.
The completion of the transaction, subject to the approval of the authorities, is due to take place before the end of the year. (sh)
