A new offer in Italy
European logistics network Astre has established a new combined offer for general cargo and part-load distribution in Italy. Beyond foodstuffs or hazardous goods, the Italian hybrid system is suitable for a wider range of goods that can be shipped more quickly in the future.
The core of the new product is the bundling of two to twelve transport pallets that are not stacked. This guarantees safe delivery, especially for fragile or high-priced goods. The new system also makes it easier to comply with the recipient's packaging standards.
More than 40 partners are now involved in the fast-growing network. 90% of Italy's regions are already covered by Astre Plus.
Full coverage of the country is due to be completed before the end of 2021. The construction of a third transhipment centre in Milan to be run by Astre member CTS is scheduled for September. Astre operates its own centre in Bologna, and, finally, Astre member Serapide runs another hub in Naples. (sh)
