A new maritime route via Colombo

Sealead Shipping has launched a new direct liner service in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), enhancing maritime connectivity between the Far East, India, and East Africa. The Far East India Djibouti (FID) service, which began operations on 5 September, offers weekly routes connecting key ports in China, India, and Djibouti, using Colombo as its base.

The inauguration ceremony was held on 2 October, at the port of Colombo, and was attended by senior executives from Sealead and SLPA. The FID service aims to reduce transit times and improve trade efficiency on major global routes.

The partnership aligns with SLPA's goal of enhancing the port’s role as a major hub in the global supply chain. It contributes to Sealead's expanding network and strengthens the port's strategic importance in the region. (pb)
