A new Dutch link in the cold chain
Construction has begun on a 40,000 sqm cold store for Maersk in Rotterdam. Located next to the Maavslakte II Terminal, the warehouse will store temperature sensitive products like pharmaceuticals, fruits, and meat. It is scheduled to open in Q4/2024.
The facility will complement Maersk’s existing portfolio of refrigerated container transportation and allow customers in North-West Europe to better plan their supply chains. Maersk has focused on renewable energy through solar panels, earning this site a Breeam Excellent certification.
“This proximity to the terminal, but also to our new cross-dock facility in Rotterdam which will be operational in January 2024 allows us to offer simpler and more integrated supply chain solutions right at our logistics hub in Rotterdam,” says Michel Blonk, regional construction project manager for Europe.
