A new Asian-African link

A new African connection is on. Hapag-Lloyd is launching its new bi-weekly service Maputo Express (MAX) at the beginning of June 2022. The direct service will rotate between only three ports: Jebel Ali, Dubai, Mundra, India, and Maputo in Mozambique. The new link will thus speed up transit times from the West Coast of India to the East Coast of Africa.

The stopover in the port of Jebel Ali provides customers with further connections to the worldwide network. With this service, Hapag-Lloyd will also provide an in-bond-transit link between Maputo and Komatipoort (ZA), creating a transportation gateway towards the North of South Africa.

“We offer a competitive alternative for Johannesburg imports and Southern Africa exports through this new corridor,” says Jan Willem De Braal, senior director trade Africa. (sh)
