A mixed bag for J.B. Hunt
US-based J.B. Hunt Transport Services reported its Q4/2022 results recently. While the net income amounted to USD 201.3 million, 16.9% less than in Q4/2021 (242.2 million in Q4/2021), revenues for the current quarter went up to USD 3.65 billion, an increase of 4% compared to the same period in 2021. I
n Q4/2022, total operating revenue, excluding fuel surcharge revenue, fell by approximately 3% versus the comparable quarter 2021. This decrease was primarily driven by a 27% decline in volume in integrated capacity solutions (ICS) and a 1% drop in volume in intermodal.
Revenue, excluding fuel surcharge revenue, performance was positively offset by a 14% increase in average revenue producing trucks and a 3% rise in fleet productivity in dedicated contract services. Revenue per load in intermodal improved by 6% and loads in truckload also went up by 6%. (sh)
