A milestone for ‘Cargo Sous Terrain’ in Switzerland
A Swiss law on underground freight systems will come into force on 15 July 2022. The law creates the conditions for the approval of the privately-initiated Cargo Sous Terrain (CST) project. At the same time, the Swiss government amended two annexes to ordinances that are also necessary for the project’s implementation.
The plans for the Cargo Sous Terrain system include the construction of an underground tunnel to facilitate the transport of goods between logistics centres in the Swiss Plateau (Mittelland) and northwestern Switzerland. Swiss companies from the transport, logistics, retail, finance, insurance, telecommunications and energy sectors are involved in the project. (ben)http://www.cst.ch
