A message from Accra to Africa
Daniel McKoley (right), EO of Ghana’s McDan Group, has signed an mou with Wamkele Mene, secretary general of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) secretariat, to mark the beginning of a partnership to facilitate trade among African countries.Following the agreement, which was signed at the McDan Private Jet Terminal in Accra, McDan Aviation has acquired cargo aircraft and maritime trade vessels to support AfCFTA whose ‘guided trade initiative’ seeks to test the area’s operational, institutional, legal and trade policy environment.The eight countries participating in the pilot phase (Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Rwanda, Tanzania and Tunisia) wish to send a positive message to Africa’s businesses. Alan Kyerematen, Ghana’s minister for trade and industry, encouraged Africans to embrace the McDan Group’s initiative and encouraged other African businessmen to follow suit. (ah)
