A Mancunian hub for DB Schenker
DB Schenker has purchased a new site in Manchester which will more than double the size of its existing facility. Manchester represents the largest city region economy outside London and the 9,308 sqm site at Trafford Park will offer almost 4,645 sqm of warehousing and office space.
The new facility will contain an X-ray machine for screening air freight and designated zones for consolidating all shipments. There are separate floors for the land transport, air, and ocean teams. Additionally, the new site will see 50% of its roof area covered by solar panels and at ground level there will be a series of electric charging points.
DB Schenker has been supported throughout the purchase and process by the Manchester Inward investment organisation and Trafford Council. Trafford Park was the first purpose built industrial park in the world with over 836,127 sqm of business space. (mk)
