A joint venture at Duisburg Port

Thyssenkrupp Steel and Duisport Group are joining forces to expand their logistics capacities on the Rhine with a joint venture at Duisburg Port.

The European steel supplier’s logistics spin-off, Thyssenkrupp Steel Logistics, separated from its parent company in 2022 but will now be reintegrated as part of the joint venture. As it owned a large complex at the Duisburg Port, both companies expect to benefit from a high turnover rate at the site. The current rate is 25 million t annually.

The venture will combine Thyssenkrupp’s network and manufacturing capacity with Duisport’s expertise in port management and logistics. It is planned to begin operation by Q2/2023/2024. Markus Micken, head of logistics at Thyssenkrupp Steel: “With Duisport on our side, we continue to combine logistics expertise on the Rhine and for the region.” (mk)
