A hub for cross-border trade in Malaysia/Thailand
Construction of the new inland port BKH-ICD in Kedah in Malaysia near the border to Thailand is proceeding according to plan. Once in operation, the hub is designed to boost trade between the two countries, PKT Logistics said.
The BKH-ICD Inland Port will be equipped with the latest technology, including a terminal operating system, gate control system, security system and provisions for rubber tyred gantry crane operations. It will have a handling capacity of up to 240,000 teu per annum.
The project was launched by a JV between One Northern Hub (a subsidiary of PKT Logistics) and the Malaysian state-owned Northern Gateway (NGX). Construction is rolling out in four phases. The first parts of the new logistics hub are scheduled to open in Q1/2024. (ben)
