A Hero to handle Christmas deliveries
In the logistics industry, automation and emissions reduction are currently on top of the agenda. The Finland’s capital Helsinki is currently exploring options to achieve these goals. The innovation company Forum Virium Helsinki is trialling an autonomous robot to streamline last-mile deliveries. The robot can deliver parcels to the customers’ doors within an hour in two city districts.
Hero or Helsinki Robot is an electric, talking and autonomously moving delivery robot. Its functionality and public acceptance were already tested when the talking robot delivered tools from the Würth Centre to the nearby construction sites.
In this second phase, Hero is being deployed for emission-free online shopping deliveries. The trial will be further extended in spring 2024. (ben)
