A good year for the Port of Trois-Rivières
In 2019 the volumes in the Canadian Port of Trois-Rivières clearly surpassed the level of goods handled in 2018. A total of 4.2 million t represented a rise of 10% in comparison to the record of 3.8 million t of the year before - which was a record year. While solid bulk traffic increased from 3.2 to 3.6 million t, liquid bulk remained stable at 0.3 million t as did general cargo.
A total of 260 vessels docked at the Port. Gaétan Boivin, president and CEO of the Port of Trois-Rivières, emphasised that this handling record was attained in the context of the large-scale hiring of longshoremen over the past two years, which also brought challenges in terms of training and knowledge transfer. The port also launched two innovation and environmental investment funds of CAD 2.5 Million for the next five years. (mw)
