A good year for Port of Corpus Christi
The American Port of Corpus Christi located in the Gulf of Mexico looks back in joy on 2021. Throughput rose significantly, which was mainly due to an 81.2% increase from 2020 in shipments of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Crude oil exports averaged a record 1.76 million barrels per day in 2021, a slight improvement compared to their 2020 record performance.
The Port of Corpus Christi reported an annual tonnage of 167.3 million t, a 4.7% increase over 2020. It also saw a rise in break bulk cargo such as wind energy components, natural gas liquids and refined products such as diesel and motor gasoline.
From July through December 2021, the port handled 86.8 million t, up 4.7% from the previous mark set in the second half of 2020. (sh)
