A good quarter for J.B. Hunt
In Q3/2021, the Arkansas-based US firm J.B. Hunt Transport Services achieved earnings of USD 199.8 million, an upswing of 59.2% compared to the same period in 2020. Revenues amounted to USD 3.14 billion, an increase of 27% compared to the USD 2.47 billion in Q3/2020.
The intermodal segment also contributed to the results, its revenues growing by 17%, driven by a 24% increase in revenue per load, partially offset by a 6% decline in volume.
However, a lack of staff in both rail and truck networks and at customer warehouses are some of the main reasons for the current supply-chain challenges. Higher rail and third-party dray costs, rises in driver wages, benefits and recruiting costs were also taken into account. (sh)
