A good 2019 for Liebherr maritime cranes
The Liebherr group generated a turnover of EUR 11.75 billion in 2019, whereby the maritime crane division posted a turnover of EUR 887 million. This corresponds to an uptick of EUR 175 million or 24.6% compared to the previous year.
The company invested EUR 101 million (42.3%) in this area, the number of staff in this division rose by 1.9% to more than 4,450 employees. Sales markets in the EU (38.3%) and EMEA (22.1%) topped the list, APAC followed with 13.3%.
The highlight of the maritime crane division was the installation of the TCC 78000, one of the world’s largest rail-mounted heavy-duty gantry cranes with a lifting capacity or 1,600 t.
At EUR 429 million, the group’s consolidated annual profit was above the previous year’s level, while the operating result fell below that of the previous year. At the end of 2019, the Lieberherr group employed a total of 48,000 people worldwide, 1,880 more than in 2018. (mw)
