A first in Hong Kong
Asia Airfreight Terminal (AAT), a subsidiary of Sats, has introduced autonomous electric tractors (AET) for cargo handling at its terminal in Hong Kong.
AETs offer uninterrupted service for extended hours, provide reliable support, and maintain operational efficiency. They can also navigate in adverse weather conditions such as heavy rain or fog, ensuring continuous operations.
In addition, the AETs' seamless transition between manual and autonomous modes allows for high operational flexibility within dynamic work environments. The new tractors support the company’s sustainability strategy. With a range of up to 90 km per charge, AETs significantly improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions by up to 35% compared to conventional diesel tractors. (cj)
