A contract to deliver 1.8 million footballs
Deutsche Post DHL is the new logistics partner of sports equipment manufacturer Derbystar, the official ball partner of the Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga, Germany’s top two football leagues.
In addition to numerous other products of the company, such as teamwear, goalkeeper gloves and training materials, many shipments with the new Bundesliga footballs will be delivered from the company's headquarters in Goch on the Lower Rhine (Germany) by DHL and Deutsche Post to 1,500 specialist sports retailers in Germany within the next few weeks.
Since the 2018/19 season, Derbystar has provided the official match ball of the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga. This contract runs until 2026. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the league, the match ball will appear in a classic design for the new season, and in two versions.
The classic black and white football will be used on the first two match days of the Bundesliga, after which only the coloured match ball will be used. The top football leagues in Canada and the Netherlands also use Derbystar - DHL also handles most of the shipping for the export market. (ben)
