A big building project in Basel
Rhenus Port Logistics is investing in a trimodal transhipment terminal at the Port of Switzerland in Kleinhüningen. The terminal 4 is scheduled to be completed by December 2023.
A photovoltaic system is being installed on the roof to generate around 2.4 million KWh of green electricity annually. This quantity should cover the company’s full annual electricity consumption.
The new facility will replace both the existing terminal 8 (Satram hall) and terminal 7 on the north dock. Terminal 4 will comprise five sections with a total area of around 7,300 sqm. Amongst others, five cranes will be deployed with lifting capacities of up to 32 t.
For multimodal transport, a rail receiving pit and modern rail and road weighbridges will be part of the package. One hall section will be dedicated to the transhipment and storage of sensitive steel products. (sh)
