82 t baby in a cradle from UAE to Denmark
Working with Elite Aviation, Antonov Airlines has successfully completed an AN-124-100 flight to transport a tail shaft packed in a cradle from Sharjah, UAE to Billund, Denmark for repairs and then safely carried it back.
The delivered cargo weighed about 82 t. The project was one of the most challenging transport projects this year.
“It was a real challenge for the consignee and Antonov as well as for the airport’s services team,” said Andriy Nazarenko, flight manager, Antonov Airlines. “In order to load the cargo, we had to operate the crane on the maximum boom lifting height allowed.”
Ukraine-owned Antonov’s air fleet continues to fly worldwide. The services responsible for planning the transportation and maintenance of aircraft have been temporarily relocated to Leipzig, Germany, which allows the airline to ensure the safe operation of five AN-124-100(150) airplanes. (cj)
