75 candles for Finnlines
Carrier Finnlines celebrated its 75th anniversary with a special entry of MS Finneco II in the Port of Helsinki to the Olympia Terminal.
Finnlines’ route network combines freight and passenger services, and its eight ferries operate between Finland and Germany, Sweden and Germany and on the route mainland Finland–Åland Islands–Sweden.
For these ro-pax services, Finnlines was awarded the Sustainable Travel Finland label. Over the summer of 2022, Finnlines expanded its fleet and introduced three new eco-class hybrid ro-ro vessels, which operate on the Bilbao–Zeebrugge/Antwerp–Travemünde–Helsinki/Kotka–Paldiski route.
The cargo capacity on each vessel is 5,800 lane metres, equivalent to about 400 trailers. Today, Finnlines owns and operates a fleet of 23 vessels, 20 of which sail under the Finnish flag. Finnlines is fully owned by the Grimaldi Group. (sh)
